Overview
InRange is an iPhone app that lets people voluntarily share their current location with invited group members. It does not provide a route-history feature or maintain a timeline of previous locations.
Information used
InRange uses a display name chosen in the app, app-specific account and sharing identifiers, group names and membership information, block-list identifiers, and—when sharing is enabled—the most recently published GPS coordinates, location accuracy, capture and freshness times, approximate address labels, and an optional estimate of how long the user has remained at a location. The app uses an existing Apple iCloud account; it does not use the user's Apple account name, email, or phone number as their chosen display name.
Location access and sharing
Location permission is requested through iOS. Depending on permissions and enabled features, InRange may access location while the app is in use and in the background. Current location feeds are made available to explicitly invited group members through Apple CloudKit. Sharing-area definitions and enable/disable choices are kept on the device. In normal operation, the app does not publish locations outside the enabled sharing area.
Location freshness and retention
InRange hides location positions in its interface when they are more than approximately 90 seconds old. This is a display freshness rule, not a guarantee that the stored coordinates are deleted after 90 seconds. CloudKit may retain the last published location record until it is successfully replaced, cleared, or deleted. InRange does not offer a route-history feature.
Storage and service providers
InRange relies on Apple iCloud/CloudKit for private profiles, shared groups, and location feeds. Apple location, maps, address lookup, and push-notification services may support app features. Apple's handling of information in its services, including backups and retention, is subject to Apple's own terms and policies. No advertising SDK, third-party analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking functionality was identified in the reviewed version 13 source code.
Control, stopping sharing, and deletion
Users can change location permissions in iOS Settings and use in-app sharing controls. Pausing sharing stops local publishing and requests clearing the current shared feed; network or service delays can affect when other devices see the change. Leaving a group, blocking someone, or deleting data updates applicable sharing permissions, but revocation across devices may not be instantaneous. The app's “Delete My Data” function is designed to remove the user's private profile and owned group/feed zones and leave joined groups. Information retained by another group's owner, previously viewed or copied by recipients, or held in backups cannot necessarily be erased immediately by the app.
Advertising and tracking
The reviewed app source does not implement advertising or cross-app tracking. If this changes, this policy will be updated before the changed functionality is released.
Children and privacy requests
Age suitability, regional privacy rights, and support-request retention practices are being reviewed before public release. For privacy questions, access requests, or deletion assistance, email coronaforgedtech@outlook.com and mention InRange. Do not send sensitive location data in an initial support message.
Policy changes
This policy may change as the app and its verified data practices evolve. The date at the top of this page will be updated when substantive changes are published.
Release verification still required
Before this page is treated as the final App Store policy, verify behavior on signed iPhone builds using the production CloudKit container, including sharing, background updates, pause/clear, group revocation, deletion, and support-data practices. Review Apple's App Privacy questionnaire against the actual released binary.
